  • Control, Robotics, and Autonomy (CORA) - Joint search in Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Departments
The Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) invite applications as part of ongoing efforts to empower and broaden UCR’s current strengths in Control, Robotics, Autonomy, and Machine Intelligence, and foster new cross-disciplinary initiatives both within and outside the college of engineering, for example with the School of Medicine and the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences. We seek applicants with complementary expertise to current ECE and ME faculty. We invite applications across the broad areas of Control and Robotics, with particular emphasis on medical robotics, human-robot interaction, micro/soft-robotics, distributed and autonomous systems, and control theory and optimization. We are especially interested in applicants who will be able to create new synergies among the disciplines of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science. Successful candidates are expected to lead cross-disciplinary theoretical and experimental research, and develop courses on Control and Robotics. Applications must be submitted via one of the links provided below. All applications will be reviewed and considered by both departments; thus, applicants need only apply to one department. If so desired, applicants may specify their interest in one or both departments in their cover letter. While applying via AP Recruit, applicants are kindly asked to append “CORA: ” before their dissertation title in the system’s appropriate field. Applicants are also requested to specify their interest in this search explicitly in their cover letter (i.e. Joint ME/ECE Search in Control, Robotics, and Autonomy).  For questions regarding the ME and ECE positions contact mesearch@engr.ucr.edu and ecesearch-robotics@ece.ucr.edu, respectively.
  • Department of Mechanical Engineering (2 positions)
  • E-Health, Nanomedicine and Quantum Materials (1 position) in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is conducting a faculty search in the area of materials with possible applications in two areas of interest: (1) eHealth / Nanomedicine and (2) Quantum Materials. Applicants in area (1) are expected to pursue collaborative research with UCR's new School of Medicine, which offers the potential for clinical testing. With this position, we seek to complement our existing expertise to create close collaborations with the medical school. Interest in area (2) is driven by the fact that information science is rapidly moving to the quantum world and the realization of solid-state implementations of quantum processing and communication requires high-quality quantum materials. With this position, we seek to expand the existing campus expertise in the area of quantum materials and structures.
