Balandin Group research on cover of SYNOPSYS University Newsletter
SYNOPSYS featured an article about the computer simulation research conducted in Professor Balandin’s Nano-Device Laboratory (NDL) on the front cover of its Winter - 2007 issue of the University Newsletter. SYNOPSYS, the world leader in CAD software and services, invited the feature article for its front cover page after its engineers had read the technical paper by V.O. Turin and A.A. Balandin on the electro-thermal simulations of self-heating effects in GaN-based transistors, which was published in the Journal of Applied Physics (2006). The simulation of the performance of a novel type of the high-power transistors reported in this paper was carried out using SYNOPSYS software tools. The obtained results helped to elucidate the mechanisms of the GaN transistor breakdown. The Winter - 2007 issue of the SYNOPSYS University News can be found at NDL web- site.
