New grant from NSF Cyber-Physical Systems Program

September 24, 2015

The NSF Cyber-Physical Systems program has awarded UCR a new research grant titled Extracting Time-Critical Situational Awareness from Resource Constrained Networks. ECE Professor Amit Roy-Chowdhury, along with CSE Professors S. Krishnamurthy and E. Keogh, are PIs on the grant, which also involves participation from UC Irvine. The $800K grant will fund fundamental research that facilitates timely retrieval of dynamic situational awareness information from field-deployed nodes by an operational center in resource-constrained uncertain environments, such as those encountered in disaster recovery or search and rescue missions. The researchers will also collaborate with the City of Riverside Fire Department to demonstrate the utility of the technology in the later years of the project.
