Nanoscale Glass Cages Boost Battery Performance

Researchers in the Bourns College of Engineering at UC Riverside have investigated a strategy to prevent "polysulfide shuttling" phenomenon by creating nano-sized sulfur particles, and coating them in silica (SiO2), or glass, for ultimate use as a kind of "glass cage" that could result in substantially higher lithium sulfur battery performance.
